Extreme Hiatus

Things have been very busy and time-absorbing to say the least that I couldn't concentrate an ounce of time to document music I like. Everything from job-related to family-related issues have surfaced and passed on since the time of this posting. I'm not completely back, and never really got started, but I will resume activity with this blog.

FFTP - Fresh Prince - Audra The Rapper

Audra the Rapper, native to Richmond, VA has released to the masses a new track called "Fresh Prince" feat Rocki Evans. A story of a young man growing up, surviving his environment's influences to go on to bigger and better things. Nice to still hear artists pumping out these kinds of songs.

FFTP - Thug Wilder 4 President - Noah-O

Rapper and head of the CUE (Charged Up Ent) movement, Noah-O has graced his listeners with quite the treat and my favorite body of work to date from the man. In the tape he has incorporated beats and props from legendary hip-hop Virginians: producer B!nk and rapper Skillz (Aka Mad Skillz). After successful of video infiltration of MTV Jams for his single "I Got It", his moment seems only to be increasing as he is currently down at SXSW performing with a slew of fellow VA rappers, probably contributing to the largest VA performance artist presence at SXSW ever. This is someone who you won't be able to ignore much longer out of Richmond, VA. The sleepers will wake up soon. Enjoy, Thug Wilder 4 President.

Find more work from him here: www.noah-o.com

FFTP: Koontown Killing Kaper (Official Soundtrack)

The official soundtrack to the new novel "Koontown Killing Kaper" by Bill Campbell. A really dope piece put together by Hiphop rapper, producer, and Brave New Breed label owner Triple Threat. In this production she features herself along with fellow contributors Tay Black, J.C.A, Mars McKinns, Fleetwood Deville, Opal Rose, Yonny Yone, LxLu, Choppy Chop-E Sounds. The production has significant amounts of racially charged satirical content as the novel's name and cover implies, but also serves its intentions in aligning the music with the different elements of the book. Wrought with soulful and funky beats this FreEP is sure to be a great listen but also very comically entertaining. It has a feel very reminiscent of the cartoon Boondocks, with beats that could easily feature on [Adult Swim] bumps.

With that, I leave you with this ... "BBBBBBulletproof Prius Music"

FFTP - It's not a movement.. or none of that

How ya doing and how ya feeling? If you managed to find yourself here looking for indie music, you've found a good place. Now to address a few questions:

Q: Why have you made this page?

A: Mostly as a reminder to myself to check out music and possibly review it when I find the time. There's like 8 new tapes a day, and since I'm not going to get around to them all at any decent rate, I'll throw them up here as a means to come back and listen when I have the time. Yes it's more for me than anything, but if you like kind of music posted here, and like to peep from time to time, then do as the name says.

Q: Who are you?

A: I'm just me. Another person on the internet who likes music and loves the city they claim (RICHMOND VA!). I'm not an A&R, I'm not a rapper, I have a semi-regular job. However, I believe I have good taste in music and have good ideas about the potential that can be put to work in the state of VA in regards to hip-hop. I spread love as much as I can and recognize that some people are really out here just working hard to realize their dreams. Due to that, I think some way or another I should help or support when/where I can according to my musical tastes and integrity. So I will.

Q: What kind of music do I expect to see up here?

A: Mostly anything indie and/or underground. There's plenty of blogs around to put you on the new Maino or whatever else y'all listen to and regularly have shoved in your face so you won't see that here.

Q: Soooo you're just going to put your people music up here?

A: Nope, just what I like. Believe it or not, I'm one of those people that don't like all the music their artist friends make. If I don't like it, I generally won't pass it on. Likely not even a RT. If you send me something for my feedback, I'm going to give you feedback. Not passing it along is feedback too. I understand just because I don't like it doesn't mean no one will like it.. but this page is about what I like. With that said, you have a better bet giving me a body of work to pass along than a single, because I may like it overall and pass it.

Q: Is it just going to be music posted here?

A: No, I'll input my thoughts on things music related from time to time, but don't expect long drawn out reviews of awards shows or anything. I don't have time for that.. you probably don't have time to read it. I'd be surprised if you got this deep into this post. This page will be mostly for my enjoyment than anything else, but if you're digging it, feel free.
